PUBLIC NOTICE Harris County and the City of Houston have scheduled a public hearing on the proposed amendment to the Texas Action Plan for Disaster Recovery. The amendment covers use of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to assist with the recovery of distressed areas impacted by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma in 2005. Under the Action Plan amendment, the City and County are proposing to fund projects that address the needs of those who fled to and continue to live in the Houston region as a result of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. Houston is proposing to utilize $40 million for rehabilitation of multifamily housing and housing safety services. Harris County is proposing to use $20 million on a variety of public services to address the needs of evacuees including medical and case management assistance. The public is invited to comment on the proposed amendment at the hearing scheduled for Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Former City Council Chambers at 900 Bagby.
